Work-Based Learning
A work-based learning (WBL) experience connects a student with a local business that assigns meaningful and authentic career-related experiences. The school, student, and workplace mentor create a training plan to guide the student’s WBL experience. Through this experience, a student will develop specific career-related skills, as well as a variety of employability skills, necessary for success in today’s workforce.
Although any student in senior standing is eligible to participate in a work-based learning experience, students who are enrolled in the capstone course of a career pathway that aligns with their placement may use that capstone to fulfill the instructional component of work-based learning and, therefore, will not be required to complete additional coursework.
