My name is Linissa Wirtes. I am a graduate of Olivet Nazarene University (summer home of the Chicago Bears). I graduated with a bachelor's degree in Elementary Education and with endorsements in Science, Social Sciences, and Language Arts. While at Olivet, I took a semester to study abroad in Sydney, Australia. I started working at South Central in 2008 and believe that, in working with kids, I am able to play a huge roll in their lives; and them in mine. Every day I come to work and think 'Wow, I am getting paid to do what I love. How lucky am I?' I am so blessed to work at South Central and would not change a minute of my time here! My goal as a classroom teacher is to help develop my students into well behaved contributing members of society. I stress the importance of friendship, responsibility, respect, and honesty; because with these virtues all things are possible. I want my students to realize that there is nothing in this world they cannot do if they put their minds to it. I also want my classroom to be a safe place for everyone in it. A place where worries, prejudice, and fear can be left at the door. This classroom is a home to my students; we are a family. I work my hardest to make learning fun. I am always looking for new ideas, projects, experiments, and lessons to bring the classroom to life. It is my job to help students learn and I will do whatever it takes to make that happen. Early mornings and late nights are all part of what make me successful at my job. Also, parent/teacher communication is a vital part to the success of the classroom. If you need to contact me, please do not hesitate. I check my email and voicemail daily. I cannot promise to respond immediately, but I do promise to respond as soon as I have an adequate amount of time to address any questions or concerns you might have.
