Dear Parents/Guardians,
Beginning Monday, July 27th at 9:00am, South Central will open online registration via Harmony Family Access. We would like to remind you to check your demographics, update phone numbers, update emergency contacts and their phone numbers, update your email addresses, and update your home/mailing address. There are also some registration forms that will need to be electronically signed. Some forms will need to be signed annually when you register online. The forms are listed in the online registration section in Harmony Family Access. It is important that you update your Family Access account with your most current information for bus routing purposes and so the school can contact you with important updates throughout the school year.
If you have already registered your pre-k and/or kindergarten student, you will not have to come into the school for new student registration BUT you will need to log into your Harmony Family Access account to update demographics and fill out the consent forms. You will receive an email with your student's registration code on Monday, July 27th. If you did NOT come into the school during pre-k and/or kindergarten round-up, you will still need to come in person to start the registration process.
All new students are required by the state to provide proof of residency. Any returning students who have moved to a new address from the one listed in Harmony are also required to provide proof of residency. Your proof of residency should be one of the following documents: Current (within the last 60 days) utility bill, bank statement, or rental/lease agreement. A driver's license and mailed advertisements do NOT meet the residency verification requirements set forth by the Indiana Department of Education.
Beginning Friday, July 24th, we will be scheduling appointments for all NEW STUDENTS. New student registration appointments will be Tuesday, July 28th (8:30-2:30), Wednesday, July 29th (12:30-6:30), and Thursday, July 30th (8:30-2:30). Please call the school to schedule an appointment. On those days, we also welcome families that cannot register from home to come to the school to register students. Please call to schedule an appointment. Also, please bring your username and password with you.
If you have forgotten your password to Family Access, you will need to click the "forgot my password" link, and Harmony will send an email (check your spam folder). We are unable to retrieve usernames and passwords at the school.

South Central is pleased to be selected as a recipient of the Indiana Department of Education's 2026 Digital Learning Grant! This competitive grant opportunity enables school corporations to complete projects that align with the IDOE's strategic priorities, such as improving student outcomes and academic achievement; strengthening enrollment, employment, and enlistment pathways; leveraging data and innovation for student success; and enhancing school choice and parental involvement.
The Indiana Department of Education's Office of STEM awarded grants to 70 schools as part of its continued efforts to provide access to high-quality, purposeful technology integration in school corporations. You can read the full press release on the IDOE website.
For the second time in school history, a South Central team will be playing in an IHSAA state championship game! After a regional title win over Fremont last week, the varsity softball team traveled to Converse, Indiana, on Monday to play in the Class 1A semi-state games at Oak Hill High School. In the semifinals, the team downed North Newton 12-2. In the evening semi-state championship, the team pulled out another 12-2 victory over Riverton Parke to punch their ticket to the state finals!
The Lady Satellites will now take on the Barr-Reeve Vikings in the IHSAA Class 1A state finals on Saturday, June 13th at 3:30pm CST at Purdue University.
Congratulations to the South Central boys golf team on winning the 2026 LaPorte sectional championship! The team scored a 328 at Beechwood Golf Course to take home the school's first-ever golf sectional title! 11 other area high schools competed, including John Glenn, Knox, LaPorte, Marquette Catholic, Michigan City, Morgan Township, New Prairie, North Judson-San Pierre, Oregon-Davis, Tri-Township, and Westville. The team will now play on June 11th in the Sandy Pines regional. Go Satellites!
Congratulations to both the varsity softball and baseball teams on winning the 2026 IHSAA 1A sectional tournaments!
The South Central softball team defeated Triton 15-3 on their home field to claim their 2nd consecutive sectional championship and their 19th overall. Earlier in the tournament, the team defeated North Judson-San Pierre (11-0) and Culver Community (9-0). In the regional tournament, South Central will travel to play Fremont on June 2nd.
The South Central baseball team also defeated #3 Trition 4-2 on their home field to claim their first sectional title since 2022 and their 19th overall. Earlier in the tournament, the team defeated Culver Community (7-0) and Oregon-Davis (12-0). South Central will take on Kouts in the regional tournament at LaPorte on June 6th. Go Satellites!
Congratulations to the South Central varsity boys volleyball team on winning the 2026 Porter County Conference tournament! After victories against Hebron and Morgan Township, the Satellites defeated the Boone Grove Wolves on their home court in four sets to claim the title. This is the first overall tournament win for the program, which was established in 2023. Go Satellites!
The annual South Central Health & Wellness Night will take place on Tuesday, June 16, 2026 starting at 5:30pm. Various services will be available for students including physicals, preventative heart screenings, dental care, and immunizations. There is no cost for the physicals, however, donations to the athletic department will be accepted. See the flyer for more information.
South Central Elementary School, through its penny war fundraiser, raised $14,300 for Riley Hospital for Children!
The penny war fundraiser was sponsored by Junior Council members and was held from March 9th to the 27th. Congratulations to 3rd grade for raising the most amount of money. Thank you to Ms. Fornaciari, Mrs. Perez, and our entire Junior Council!
If you received special education services or were tested for services but did not qualify from the South LaPorte County Special Education Cooperative (LaPorte, New Prairie, South Central, Westville, Tri-Township Schools) and you graduated or were exited from services between 1/1/2020 to 12/31/2020, your records will be destroyed on or about July 1, 2026. The South Central Elementary Junior Council will be sponsoring a penny war fundraiser between grade levels to help benefit Riley Hospital for Children. The fundraiser will take place from March 9th to March 27th. The grade level that raises the most money will go to the movies! If the $18,000 school goal is met, a fun surprise will be had for everyone! Details on this fun way to raise money can be found in the attached flyer.

Are you ready for spring? We certainly are! The 40s and 50s in the forecast for this next week will make it seem like it's spring, at least. I am writing a second follow-up to the information previously shared with you regarding our inclement weather learning plans for this school year.
We have now used our 3 allowable "old-fashioned" eLearning days, as permitted by Indiana Code. These were the days where assignments were posted and completed asynchronously throughout the day. We have also used 3 virtual learning days with live instruction. According to our current procedures, we then move to utilizing our built-in snow make-up days. One of those already passed in January. The second one is tomorrow, Friday, February 13th. We are OFF of school tomorrow. The remaining snow make-up day on the school calendar is Friday, May 1st. Should we have another inclement weather school cancellation, we would have no school that day and no virtual learning, and the day off would be made up on the remaining snow make-up day, May 1st. If we would have any cancellations beyond that, we would go back to virtual learning with live instruction so that we do not have to tack on days to the end of the school year.
Also, please note that our scheduled virtual learning day for Wednesday, March 4th, will now be a regular in-person student day. The Board of School Trustees officially took action this past Tuesday night to reflect that on the school calendar. We've had enough virtual learning that we don't need to utilize another planned day at this point.
