2023-2024 Registration Information

Dear Parents/Guardians,

Beginning Monday, July 31st at 9:00am, South Central will open online registration via Harmony Family Access. We would like to remind you to check your demographics, update phone numbers, update emergency contacts and their phone numbers, update your email addresses, and your home/mailing address.

There are some registration forms that will need to be electronically signed. Some forms will need to be signed annually when you register online (Parent Right to Know; Active Duty; Residency Information; Work Survey; CTE; Transportation Needs). The forms are listed in the online registration section in Harmony Family Access.

If you have already registered your pre-k and/or kindergartner, you will not have to come into the school for new student registration BUT you will need to log into your Harmony Family Access account to update demographics and fill out the consent forms. You will receive an email with your student's registration code on Friday, July 28th.

All new students are required by the state to provide proof of residency. Any returning students who have moved to a new address from the one listed in Harmony are also required to provide proof of residency. Your proof of residency should be one of the following documents: Current (within the last 60 days) utility bill, telephone bill, tax return, bank statement, mortgage statement, rental/lease agreement, medical bill, and/or other official information that verifies your address. A driver's license and mailed advertisements do NOT meet the residency verification requirements set forth by the Indiana Department of Education.

Beginning Wednesday, July 26th, the school will be scheduling appointments for NEW STUDENT registration which is on Tuesday, August 1st, Wednesday, August 2nd, and Thursday, August 3rd. Please call the school to schedule an appointment. On those days, we also welcome families that cannot register from home to come to the school to register students. Please call to schedule an appointment. Also, please bring your usernames and passwords with you.

If you have forgotten your password, you will need to click the "forgot my password" link and Harmony will send an email to help you. Unfortunately, we are unable to retrieve usernames and passwords at the school.

We are looking forward to a great school year ahead!

Thank you,

South Central Schools

SC Drama Club Presents Rodgers & Hammerstein's Carousel

SC Drama Club Presents Rodgers & Hammerstein's Carousel

South Central Drama Club will be presenting Rodgers & Hammerstein's historic musical Carousel. Set in 1873, Carousel follows Billy Bigelow, a swaggering, carefree carnival barker, who falls in love with and marries the sweet but naive Julie Jordan. Many of the men in this story are veterans of the Civil War and struggle with issues of anger, anxiety, and insecurity in themselves and their relationships. Billy is no exception and struggles to overcome his issues to be a better man for Julie. However, he is not necessarily successful and finds himself on a search for redemption. Showcasing renowned songs like "June is Bustin' Out All Over," "Soliloquy," "If I Loved You," and "You'll Never Walk Alone," Rodgers and Hammerstein's musical will have you laughing and crying and will leave you wanting to be a better person.

SCDC will be performing Carousel on April 28th at 7:00pm, April 29th at 7:00pm, and April 30th at 2:00pm. Seniors will be honored on Sunday after the show. According to Concord Theatrical's website, Carousel is for ages 10+, as it contains mature content and trigger warnings for intimate partner violence. Tickets can be purchased in advance for $5.00 or $7.00 at the door. Contact a drama club member or the school office to purchase in advance. Come join SCDC for their final performance of the year!

SC Drama Club Presents "Damn Yankees"

DamnYankees

The South Central Drama Club will be throwing the first pitch of their 2022-2023 season with a little game of baseball in their production of Damn Yankees! In 1950s Washington, D.C., middle-aged baseball fan Joe Boyd watches his favorite team- the Washington Senators- continue to lose to the supposedly unbeatable New York Yankees. His wife, Meg, laments his devotion to the team and wishes he would pay more attention to her during the "Six Months Out of Every Year" where he only cares about the Senators. After a visit from a mysterious stranger named Mr. Applegate, Joe is forced to question how far he would go to see the Senators succeed in beating the Yankees for the pennant. Through beloved musical numbers like "Heart," "Whatever Lola Wants," and "Goodbye, Old Girl," a myriad of bright characters, including reporter Gloria Thorpe, henchwoman Lola, Senators coach Benny Van Buren, and a slew of determined baseball players, tell this exciting tale of baseball, love, and the choices we make to succeed.

Do you enjoy watching the national pastime game of baseball? Do you feel like laughing until your sides hurt? Are you dying to find out if the Washington Senators can finally beat those damn Yankees to win the American League pennant? This show has something for everyone! The Damn Yankees book by George Abbott & Douglas Wallop is based on Douglas Wallop's novel The Year the Yankees Lost the Pennant. Online Learning Information

Online Learning Information

Dear Parent/Guardian,

As you may know, a new law created in 2021, Indiana House Bill 1093, limits the number of eLearning days a public school can use to three per year. South Central has utilized eLearning days for several years now for teacher professional development days (days scheduled in November and February) and inclement weather days. eLearning days are asynchronous (no live Google Meets) where lessons and assignments are posted by 10:00am and teachers are available to meet, as needed. With this new law, if a school is able to provide 50 percent synchronous (live Google Meets with the teacher) instruction, then the school day will count toward the 180 required days. We will refer to this as "Virtual Learning" instead of eLearning.

November 1st is our first and only scheduled Virtual Learning day for the 2022-23 school year. There are NO scheduled eLearning days at this time. We will use November 1st to practice this new model of virtual instruction. We will operate on a 2-hour delay schedule, and the school day will begin virtually at 10:00am. Attached, you will find an informational graphic that helps to better explain these new "Virtual Learning" days. Additional information is also available on our online learning page.

We understand that these changes are not always ideal, however, given this new Indiana law, we are required to make this change. As stated earlier, we are allowed up to three eLearning days per school year. We will utilize eLearning, when needed and appropriate (i.e. if there is a power outage, we have already utilized multiple Virtual Learning days in a row, other unexpected circumstances). This will be clearly communicated to you in a School Messenger announcement.

We sincerely appreciate your understanding and assistance with this change. Please do not hesitate to contact the school if you have any questions!
